Guernsey Post and the Cardiac Action Group installs defibrillator at Envoy House

Guernsey Post with the assistance of charity, the Cardiac Action Group, has installed a defibrillator outside its postal headquarters at Envoy House.

The unit has been fitted to the railings by the post box on La Vrangue, meaning it is accessible to members of the public 24 hours a day.

Shelley Carberry, Health and Safety Manager at Guernsey Post said, “We are really pleased to have been able to purchase this defibrillator, and we have worked closely with the Cardiac Action Group to have this installed in a place that is easily accessible to the public”.

Speaking on behalf of the charity, Dr Dean Patterson states “We are really pleased that Guernsey Post have installed a public access defibrillator. Anyone who collapses with an electrical problem known as ventricular fibrillation will be unresponsive, not breathing or breathing abnormally and early intervention with a defibrillator can be lifesaving. They are easy to use and talk the user through the instructions of how to do it, so to have one in a busy public area like this is welcome.”
