Postal operators contribute to economic growth throughout the EU. They promote social inclusion by connecting different regions, consumers and producers, institutions, and citizens. They are trusted across Europe and are an essential factor for the EU economy – from rural areas through to suburban and urban areas, as also confirmed during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
PostEurop’s position paper responds to the current European Commission’s public consultation on the Postal Services Directive evaluation report.
Going forward, PostEurop and its Members state in the paper that the Directive must have the sustainability of the USO at the heart of the regulation, while allowing for flexibility at Member States level to ensure that universal services are based on national circumstances and user needs.
