Posti received the award for its innovative final mile delivery solution. Box by Posti brings online retailers and consumers to the same space in a new way.
After it opened on Keskuskatu, Helsinki, in November last year, Box by Posti is meant to make picking up and returning online purchases as easy as possible. A gigantic parcel locker, fitting rooms and a digital kiosk are some of the key features of the space.
“In the first year, consumers have used Box by Posti to pick up tens of thousands of parcels and to send thousands of parcels,” says Kaisa Ilola, Head of Brand and Customer Channels, Posti.
“If a customer has ordered clothes online, they can try them on straight away. If the customer wants to return the clothes, they can do so immediately without having to go home first. The packing materials can be left with us for recycling or for others to use. Until now, the link between the online store and home has been missing, but it is now provided by Box by Posti,” says Ilola.
In addition to being a service point, Box by Posti is a space for both consumers and online retailers. “Both domestic and international online retailers can organize, for example, their own pop-up events and sell their own products. So far, Box by Posti has been used to organize events from fashion shows to seminars. Our store windows are also available to online retailers. For example, we’ll be seeing more Finnish brands on display during the upcoming season.”
Best final mile innovation
Postal and logistics operators can freely nominate entries to the Parcel and Postal Technology International Awards competition. The best nominations make a shortlist, and an international panel of experts chooses the winners. This year, Posti won the Final Mile Innovation of the Year Award. Box by Posti received the award in the virtual Parcel+Post Expo event on Tuesday night, October 13.
