ISO 9001 encompasses key quality management principles, including a strong customer focus, the support of senior management, documenting procedures and identifying areas for continual improvement. ISO 27001 provides a framework for effective information security management. Using both certifications ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 helps ensure that customers benefit from consistent, good quality products and services; in particular ISO 27001 is aligned to the stringent requirements of data protection legislation, as such is commonly a pre-requisite when processing data on behalf of customers.
During lockdown Lloyd’s Register conducted a remote, but no less thorough and rigorous audit of IMS, its staff and systems to ensure procedures and processes comply with the standard. The global quality standard awarded by the International Organisation for Standardisation and the International Electrotechnical Commission has been awarded to all the services which IMS provides, including mail opening, storage, scanning, data capture, printing, fulfilment, franking and stationery supply.
Russell Cowin, General Manager IMS, said: "Maintaining a high security standard as a trusted, established and well-recognised business is our priority and many of our corporate customers have a mandatory requirement for their suppliers to hold internationally recognised certification. We are delighted that due to the dedication and focus of our team we were able to successfully renew our ISO Certifications enabling us to continuously provide a high security standard to our valued customers."
