PostNL once again makes it to the top of the world’s most sustainable logistics companies

Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2019

PostNL ranks among the world’s most sustainable companies in the logistics and transport industry, and takes third place in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), as announced today by RobecoSAM. PostNL has been at the top of the league table in its industry for many years.

Herna Verhagen, CEO of PostNL, commented: “I’m really proud of our DJSI rating, as it reflects the success of our efforts to make our daily operations more sustainable. Our high ranking is key to the very future of our business, where sustainability will, I believe, be part of any company’s licence to operate. Only players with a clear purpose will be able to create long-term value and operate responsibly.”

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index reveals PostNL to be among the top businesses in the logistics and transport sector in terms of corporate economic, environmental and social performance – with PostNL doing well on all three.

Emission-free delivery

PostNL aims to have the minimum possible impact on the environment and typically opts for low-emission vehicles and buildings. Its aim is to deliver all parcels and letters within the Benelux region emission-free in the last mile by 2030, and it aims to make its deliveries emission-free in 25 city centres by 2025.

A workplace for everyone

PostNL is looking to be a business that people like working at and with. It invests in employees’ sustainable employability and focuses on diversity, as it believes that differences make the organisation stronger.

At the heart of society

Not only does PostNL deliver mail and parcels as sustainably as possible, it also extends a helping hand to people needing extra support to stay connected to society, for instance by supporting organisations such as Nationale Coalitie tegen Eenzaamheid (which roughly translates as “National Coalition against Loneliness”), the Nationaal Ouderenfonds (“National Association for the Elderly”) and Stichting Jarige Job, which provides birthday presents to children whose families have no money to spare.
