Jersey Post predicts Christmas parcel boom

With less than 6 weeks, until Christmas Day, parcel volumes are rising steadily at Jersey Post and look set to exceed the increases experienced in previous years.

Throughout 2018, Jersey Post has experienced steady growth in parcel traffic, as more and more islanders choose to shop online. During November and December, Jersey Post is anticipating an increase of more than 40% in parcel traffic compared to other months, and anticipates this Christmas being one of the busiest yet for postal staff.

Niall McClure, Jersey Post’s Managing Director for Post and Logistics, said, “Every Christmas we see a significant increase in parcel volumes as the trend for online shopping and deals around Black Friday and Cyber Monday become increasingly popular. This year we are anticipating our busiest Christmas yet as the number of individuals making purchases online, including both every day and special items for Christmas, continues to increase.”

Never miss a delivery again:

Jersey Post offers several free alternative delivery services that enable parcels to be delivered when Islanders are not at home. SecureDrop now has over 25% of island households signed up to the service offering customers the option of delivery to a safe, weatherproof location within the grounds of the property, or to a trusted neighbour.

Alternatively, the conveniently located, and now free 24/7 parcel collection lockers provide access to parcels 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Parcel lockers are ideal for customers who need a secure, convenient location from which to collect parcels. Any item, even those that usually require a signature, can be delivered straight into a secure 24/7 locker for customers to collect at their leisure. These combined services ensure that customers receive their items more quickly and without having to collect from the Rue des Pres depot.

Money saving promotions:

Jersey Post is also offering money saving promotions this Christmas. Knowing that the perfect gift isn’t always easy to find, Ship2me is providing a 10% discount on the delivery of items from UK retailers that do not deliver to the Channel Islands. Customers wishing to take advantage of this offer should visit www.ship2me.co.uk and enter the promotional code XMAS10 at the checkout.

In addition, to help customers keep in touch with family and friends this Christmas, the popular reduced price self-adhesive Christmas stamps will be on sale this year from Monday 19 November at the following rates:
