Jersey Post reaches finals of World Post & Parcel Awards

Jersey Post has been shortlisted for two awards at the World Post & Parcel Awards 2018 – a prestigious industry event.

The company has been recognised for the development of an automated parcel management solution and shortlisted in the Customer Service and Technology categories at the 2018 finals.

The solution involved the installation of an automated parcel sorting machine which linked through to handheld terminals and tracking software used by postal workers out on their delivery rounds. This combination of equipment and software has helped the organisation to enhance its delivery operation, generate cost efficiencies and provide greater customer choice.

The most notable benefit has been significantly improved first time delivery rates and the introduction of alternative delivery services. In addition, the improved efficiencies now experienced as a result of the technology ensure that Jersey Post can continue to offer a sustainable postal service without the need for government subsidy in the long-term.

Paul Marett, Director of ICT at Jersey Post stated, “Most parcels received by islanders are the product of internet shopping and everyone in the purchase chain, including Jersey Post, have similar requirements – quick, seamless and hassle-free delivery.  Thanks to the parcel automation project, our success with first-time delivery KPIs has improved enormously to the benefit of all stakeholders. Naturally, we are thrilled that our hard work with this project has been recognised at such a high level within our industry.”

Now in its 19th year, the World Post & Parcel Awards showcases the latest innovation and best practice within the postal and express services industry. The awards recognise those organisations that are embracing industry challenges and maximising the opportunities that today’s business environment presents. The winners will be announced and celebrated at a gala dinner in London on 12 June at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.
