Jersey Post predicts record breaking parcel volumes this Christmas

With the countdown to Christmas Day now well under way, Jersey Post is already seeing a rise in parcel volumes, which are likely to once again exceed the increases experienced in previous years.

Throughout 2017, Jersey Post has continued to experience steady growth in parcel traffic, as well as a trend for a greater range of items arriving in the island for delivery. Parcel volumes always increase during November and December and this year – Jersey Post is predicting an increase of more than 30% in parcel traffic compared to other months, as more and more islanders choose to shop online for Christmas gifts and festive items.

Kenan Osborne, Director of Postal Operations at Jersey Post, said, “Christmas is always a busy time for everyone at Jersey Post, but we’re all set and ready to deal with what we believe will be the busiest Christmas yet in terms of parcel volumes. We anticipate that the increase in volumes will start even earlier this year as the trend for online shopping and deals around Black Friday and Cyber Monday become increasingly popular. Whilst these promotions impact our workload, we also recognise that Christmas is a busy time for our customers. We hope that our reduced-price postage promotion and range of alternative parcel delivery options will help make Christmas a little easier for Islanders.”

Alternative delivery services:

Jersey Post offers several alternative delivery services that enable parcels to be delivered when the recipient is not at home. SecureDrop now has over 25% of island households signed up to the service offering customers the option of delivery to a safe, weatherproof location within the grounds of the property, or to a trusted neighbour. Alternatively, the conveniently located, 24/7 parcel collection lockers provide access to parcels 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These services ensure that customers receive their items more quickly and without having to collect from the Rue des Pres depot.

Money saving promotions:

Jersey Post is also offering money saving promotions this Christmas. Knowing that the perfect gift isn’t always easy to find, Ship2me is providing a 20% discount on the delivery of items from UK retailers that do not deliver to the Channel Islands. Customers wishing to take advantage of this offer should visit and enter the promotional code LOVE20 at the checkout.

In addition, to help customers keep in touch with family and friends this Christmas, the popular reduced-price Christmas stamps will be on sale this year from Monday 20 November at the following rates: Read More
