Until the end of the year it is planned to install 22 new self-service parcel terminals in both large and smaller cities of the country, whereas, the existing terminals will have new lockers added.
"We count that this year there were sent nearly half as many items via self-service parcel terminals than last year. The rapid expand in e-trade volume and consistent annualy growing demand for the use of self-service parcel terminals impose an obligation to create even more options for people to conveniently send and collect items.
Expansion of the self-service parcel terminals network will involve both large and the smaller cities, because today e-trade and exchange of goods become increasingly more relevant in regions of the country too," - Juozas Buitkus, director of Baltic Post, the subsidiary company of Lithuania Post that runs the self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS, said.
The development of the self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS network, which is expected to grow by almost a third this year, will be carried out in two stages. By 1 October, the first new 11 self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS will be installed in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Kupiškis, Garliava and Kuršėnai. The rest will be set up during October and November.
The significant part of previously installed self-service parcel terminals will have more lockers integrated. The expansion of the self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS has been carried out for the second year in a row.
"The development of terminals is implemented after analyzing customer needs to use self-service parcel terminals. We seek to ensure larger and more convenient accessibility for people to collect and send items. New self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS will be installed near the major supermarkets, where the largest flow of residents take place. Meanwhile, additional lockers will be installed in those terminals that are filled with items in the fastest way," the Head of Baltic Post said.
Residents of the country inscreasingly tend to collect items, which are sent by regular mail, via self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS. Redirection of items received via Lithuania Post to self-service terminals has increased by amlost a third this year. More than 80 per cent of all items sent via terminals LP EXPRESS are items containing purchases sent from online stores to customers.
Currently, there are 80 self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS installed in 41 towns and cities in Lithuania. A total of 102 self-service parcel terminals will be operating by the end of a year.
