With the introduction of this innovation residents faster and more conveniently learn about received items that are stored and shall be collected from a post office.
“Electronic means of communication have become inseparable from our daily activities. Considering today's Lithuania Post customer needs, we have created a possibility of getting informed about the received registered item by SMS messages or e-mail. This service is free of charge, it can be chosen by customers wishing that the consignee of their sent item would be informed electronically rather than with a paper notice that is left in the consignee's mailbox,”- the Head of Business Development at Lithuania Post Mikas Jovaišas said.
When registered postal items are handed to the consignee or his authorized person a signature is required. A consignee, that a postman could not find at the address indicated on an item, will be informed about the received and stored at a post office item by a separate notice next day.
“The usual paper notices will continue to be delivered to consignees. Only those Lithuania Post customers, whose contact details will be indicated on the registered items destined to them, will be informed electronically rather than with paper notices left in mailboxes,” - Mr. Jovaišas said.
Additional contact details of the consignee, i.e. cell phone number (e.g. +7060000001) and/or e-mail (e.g. V.PAVARDENIS@POST.LT), shall be written on the registered postal item envelope or package below the usual recipient details.
Meanwhile, business customers using Lithuania Post electronic self-service will be able to specify additional consignee contact information while forming a shipment order online.
The public limited company Lithuania Post runs the widest network of postal access points in Lithuania. Lithuania Post provides postal, logistic, and financial intermediation services.
