Signed and secured with Jersey Post

Following customer feedback regarding parcel delivery from our island-wide customer survey in March, Jersey Post will be trialling an exciting new additional feature to their SecureDrop service – SecureDrop Signature.

SecureDrop Signature enables all deliveries requiring a signature, including Special Delivery, to be delivered to a customer’s SecureDrop location. A unique barcode will be affixed to each customer’s SecureDrop delivery point for the postal worker to scan when an item is delivered. By scanning the barcode the postal worker registers proof of delivery at the property.

The standard SecureDrop service allows regular parcels and packets that do not need a signature to be delivered to a secure, weatherproof location, either on the customer’s premises or with a neighbour if there is no answer at the customer’s door.

Andy Jehan, Director of Postal Operations commented: “We are aware of the significant increase in the volume of items being sent that require a signature on delivery. Feedback from our current SecureDrop customers indicates that they are happy for any type of item of mail to be left in their SecureDrop location, including those that require a signature. On this basis, we will begin trialling the service with a selected area in order to test and perfect the service.”

Those customers on the trial will give permission for all items requiring a signature on delivery to be left in their SecureDrop location. This provides the added customer convenience of not travelling to Rue Des Pres to sign for, and collect items. Once the trial has been completed and feedback incorporated, it is planned that the service will be extended island-wide later in the year.
