Sinterklaas is shopping online more and more and our parcel delivery drivers and sorting centres are currently running at full strength. They are working day and night for quick and correct delivery of these extra December period parcels to customers.

‘This is a fantastic milestone of which I am proud. Today we will deliver a parcel to around 1 in 7 households in our country’ said PostNL Parcels Director, Gerrit Mastenbroek. We know that some 30-35% more parcels are sent and delivered in the final 6 weeks of the year than during the rest of the year.

Current popular senders are: Bart Smit, bol.com and Intertoys. PostNL is expecting the 1 million amount to be exceeded a few more times over the coming weeks. We processes the parcels in 19 sorting centres spread throughout the country. As well as permanent staff, a few hundred extra employees are deployed.

Yesterday evening and last night, the 1 million parcels were shipped in approximately 700 trailers to the sorting centre from which they will be loaded tomorrow by our parcel drivers. Many vans will be making 2 trips a day in this busy month, of course with different drivers. As well as early and regular delivery, including Sundays, there will also be evening delivery on all weekdays in December.
