Norway Post and Bring have handled around two million parcels every week in December. Now all Posten's terminals have been emptied of Christmas mail - everything has been sent out.

“This year we have handled extraordinarily large quantities of Christmas mail. The package volume already rose to record highs since the day after the authorities introduced new coronavirus pandemic restrictions and has remained very high until Christmas Eve. There has been a good flow in this year's Christmas traffic. We have delivered with high quality and ensured that customers are satisfied. I would like to send a big and well-deserved thank you to all our employees and those who work at Post shop, who can now take a well-deserved Christmas holiday,” says Tone Wille, CEO of Posten.

At Østlandsterminalen, which is the heart of letter sorting in Norway, just over 40 million postal items were sent out in December.

In December, Norway Post handled around two million parcels a week. Ahead of this year's high season, Norway Post brought in 1,000 extra employees who have assisted on the driver's side and with parcel handling at all the country's terminals. Today, packages can be picked up at around 2,660 different places in Norway, there are 1,000 more pick-up points than last year's Christmas. In the last fourteen days, there has been 9.5 per cent growth in the package volume at the country's collection points, compared to  the same time last year.

On Christmas Eve, there were around 260,000 uncollected packages at pick-up locations around the country. Most Post shops are open on Christmas Eve, so there are still opportunities to pick up the latest packages and ensure a good Christmas atmosphere. The postmen also work on Christmas Eve, so a little peek into the mailbox on the big day can bring great joy.
