Česká Pošta, Hellenic Post - ELTA S.A and Deutsche Post DHL Group awarded the 2021 PostEurop CSR "Coups de Coeur"

PostEurop proudly announced the recipients of the “2021 CSR Coups de Coeur” awards during an online ceremony held at the Plenary Assembly on 6 October.

These trophies recognise each year the best practices of postal operators in the categories “Employees”, “Society” and “Environment”.

Česká Pošta received the “Coup de Coeur” award in the Employees category for its inclusive “From an external worker to an internal worker” project, which consists of employing convicts at post offices and giving work to prisoners in prisons, increasing the qualifications of convicts through trainings at post offices and employing convicts after the end of their sentence. They are currently cooperating with six prisons throughout the Czech Republic and employ a total of 45 convicts directly in prisons and at post offices.

Mr. Roman Knap, CEO of Czech Post, stated “In addition to cooperating with prisoners, Czech Post offers people the possibility of permanent employment in its operation after serving their sentences. We are not talking about extracting convicts and then just telling them thank you, we wish you good luck. We have a strong position in society and we can offer a helping hand to those who find it more difficult to return to normal life. Everyone deserves a second chance. Czech Post offers it.“

Hellenic Post - ELTA S.A was awarded the "Coup de Coeur” for Society in recognition of its programme “Stop Bullying” which consists of several actions against bullying. By issuing a Commemorative Stamps series entitled “Child and Stamp Stop Bullying” and by designing, producing and sending free of charge posters with the message “Stop Bullying” to all schools throughout Greece, ELTA Post wishes to encourage compassion, respect, friendship and fairness among children, especially those in the 1st and 2nd grade.

As Hellenic Post’s CEO Mr. George Constantopoulos mentioned, “In 2020 we approached the sensitive topic of bullying through stamps that speak out against a scourge that affects young people. In parallel, we maximised the social impact through posters sent free of charge to every school in Greece. Our award is particularly meaningful given that the participating post offices presented such outstanding social responsibility initiatives. We would like to thank you for this.”

In the Environment section, the “Coup de Coeur” was awarded to Deutsche Post DHL Group for its “DPDHL Sustainability Roadmap”, an ambitious sustainable programme. For example, by 2030, it plans the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to below 29 million tons from 33 million metric tons in 2020.

Mr. Pablo Ciano, Head of DPDHL Corporate Development declared that this award is an honor and “it motivates us to continue on the path we have chosen. We have developed a sustainability roadmap that helps us to improve on the three dimensions of sustainability: Environment, Social and Governance. Building on our previous sustainability journey so far, we have clear plans in each of those dimensions and well-defined targets in the short-, mid- and long-term. Our customer promise - Excellence, Simply Delivered. In a sustainable way – fuels our ambition to continue making a positive contribution to humanity.“
