The 2019 Most Beautiful EUROPA Stamp winners are Haypost and Pošta Slovenije.

PostEurop is proud to announce Haypost C.J.S.C. (Armenia - Gold), Turkish Post PTT (Turkey - Silver) and Posti Group Corporation (Finland - Bronze) as winners of the 2019 EUROPA Stamps online competition through public voting.

The results of this year’s online EUROPA Stamp competition were disclosed during the PostEurop Plenary Assembly in Jersey. Haypost C.J.S.C. (Armenia), Turkish PTT (Turkey) and Posti Group (Finland) were revealed as the top three winners respectively.

"I am very proud to announce that like last year, we had a new record number of votes -  a new milestone of 25 thousand votes! It makes me happy to see the growing engagement from voters all around the globe, this is highly beneficial for philately in general. The outcome of this year's competition is again a great reward for the magnificent designers who via their creativity could create authentic works of art made with different production techniques, which help boost the promotion of European Ornithology, thus reflecting the magnificent biodiversity that we have throughout Europe" said Agnieszka Trząskowska, Chair of the PostEurop Stamps and Philately working group from Poczta Polska S.A.

EUROPA Jury Competition

A jury composed of six philatelic experts participated in the EUROPA Jury competition. Each displayed entry was scrutinized and deliberated by the jury. The jurors casted their closed ballots and after three rounds of voting, the group of experts co-chaired by Dr. Botond Szebeny and Dr. Guy Coutant could proudly announce Pošta Slovenije, d.o.o. (Slovenia) as the winner of this year's EUROPA stamp Jury Prize.

This year’s Jury composed of the following experts:

  • Dr Botond Szebeny, Secretary General PostEurop (Co-Chair)
  • Dr Guy Coutant, Philatelist (Co-Chair)
  • Mr Arie Piet, Former CEO Joh Enschedé Stamp Printing, Director Stamp Printing National Bank Belgium
  • Mrs Andrée Trommer, Secretary General FIP (Fédération Internationale de Philatélie)
  • Mr Olaf Neumann, Stamp designer
  • Mr Stefan Klein, Stamp designer

Liechtensteinische Post AG (Liechtenstein) managed to win the second place, while Posti Group (Finland) completed the podium.

“Birds play an extremely important role in the European biodiversity as their migration routes can help pollination, pest control and even farming. The fact that this theme was chosen, really demonstrates the commitment that the PostEurop Members have in raising awareness towards nature’s sustainability. Regarding the Jury Competition, I am extremely pleased to see that year after year we continue to receive so many beautiful entries that can perfectly depict the chosen EUROPA themes. I would like to congratulate all of the designers for their accomplished effort in creating such complex and beautiful designs, as they are making it more and more difficult for the jury to elect the winning stamp” commented Botond Szebeny, PostEurop Secretary General.

The awards for the 2019 Jury competition were delivered to the postal philatelic community on Saturday, 21 September 2019, at the distinguished Brussels Town Hall, during the Belgian Philatelic Grand Prix ceremony, where philatelists and dignitaries from all over Europe gathered. This event also marked the last edition of the International category within the Belgian Grand Prix.

Congratulations to all the winners and we look forward to next year’s Philatelic Forum which will take place in Athens, Greece and of course to the beautiful “Ancient Postal Routes” entries for the upcoming competition.
