EUROPA Stamps Can Raise Awareness

PostEurop announces the EUROPA themes for 2021 and 2022

During the last Stamps & Philately Meeting that took place in Luxembourg, Members of the PostEurop working group confirmed the 2021 & 2022 EUROPA stamp themes for 2021 & 2022 to be "Endangered National Wildlife" and "Stories & Myths" respectively.

This year, with the help of a digital campaign, philatelic enthusiasts all over the world were given the opportunity to contribute their ideas on future EUROPA themes. The result was an exhaustive list of new themes which included all the suggestions from both Members and EUROPA fans.

An internal voting process took place to vote on the 2021 and 2022 themes, taking into account past themes.  After the votes were collected, the working group confirmed that the themes that the EUROPA theme for 2021 is “Endangered national wildlife” and for EUROPA 2022 issue “Stories and Myths”.

According to Agnieszka Trząskowska, Chair of the PostEurop Stamps & Philately Working Group "the discussion around endangered national wildlife has become a hot topic in recent years, due to climate change and to the impact caused on natural habitats by human actions; therefore I am quite happy to see that Postal Operators also demonstrated their concern on the subject by electing this theme. EUROPA can help to raise awareness and spread the word on this vital topic."

"With regards to the theme chosen for 2022, "Stories & Myths", it welcomes the opportunity to promote European popular culture, which is so diverse amongst all nations. This theme can help convey in a beautiful lyrical way, the story of how some cities or monuments were built, giving us a reason to learn more about our neighbouring countries, through the help of philately" continued Agnieszka Trząskowska.
