It’s been another record Christmas for Guernsey Post

Guernsey Post has had another record year for parcels this Christmas, having delivered over 352,000 since the black Friday weekend and surpassing last year’s total with 4 delivery days still to go.

Over the same period our imports and exports, including all letters and parcels have totalled over 1 million items a week.

Parcel volumes have increased by 15% compared with last year, 10% of which is growth in internet shopping and 5% from new delivery contracts.

Chief Executive Boley Smillie said “We have been incredibly busy in the run up to Christmas and it seems like volumes will continue to be strong right up until the big day.  Saturday 23rd was intended to be our last delivery but as additional parcel consignments are now expected to arrive late on Saturday we will be delivering those on Christmas Eve.“

He continued “Our staff have worked extremely hard again this year, in challenging conditions.  The arrival of mail on the Island has been disrupted on a number of occasions due to strong winds and snow in the UK but we have always delivered the mail as soon as it arrives in Guernsey.

We have also had some excellent feedback from Customers which we are always grateful for.  After completing the task in the next few days our attention will turn to the huge peak in January when customers return items and make the most of the New Year sales.“

Christmas Eve arrangements:- Parcel deliveries will take place between 8:30am and 1pm and our Forms Left counter will be open from 10am until 2pm.
