Parcel self-service terminal network expanded in Lithuania to become the largest one in the country

Expansion of parcel self-service terminals of LP EXPRESS, a subsidiary of Lietuvos Paštas, which is conducted for a third year running, enhances possibilities for the country’s residents to use increasingly more popular self-services.

The plan is to install 40 new parcel self-service terminals both in cities and towns of Lithuania and to increase the number of parcel boxes by almost 160 per cent.

“A rapidly-expanding e-commerce market also increases the need for parcel self-service terminals. Having the most extensive network of parcel self-service terminals in Lithuania, we are seeking to continue the expansion of possibilities of convenient and quality customer service.

With the new terminals, we will ensure a larger availability of postal self-services to our customers. While collecting or sending parcels, larger possibilities will be provided not only to residents of cities, but also residents of towns of Lithuania, where the impact of the development of intense e-commerce in Lithuania has also been very much felt recently,” noted Juozas Buitkus, Director of Baltic Post, a subsidiary of Lietuvos Paštas which performs the activities of parcel self-service terminals LP EXPRESS.

The expansion of the parcel self-service terminal network LP EXPRESS, which will increase by more than a third, will be conducted in two stages. The first works, to be started in August, will be continued up until Christmas. Still this year, new terminals will be installed in busy places, which are easily accessible by transport and are often visited by residents, in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Marijampolė. Next year, self-services will also be expanded to new towns of Lithuania.

“This year, we intend to meet the intense Christmas season with the installed new version of terminal software and we will offer our customers not only more convenient control, ordering of additional services and special offers for registered users, but also more attractive solutions of modern design.

Updated software will not only help to ensure smoother operation of terminals, but will also guarantee to customers more convenient and improved functionality of self-service terminals,” maintains J. Buitkus.

A large part of previously installed and successfully operating parcel self-service terminals will be supplemented with new parcel boxes. Installed new LP EXPRESS terminals will have almost 9 thousand new parcel boxes of various sizes, thus the total number of parcel boxes will increase by 1.5 times. This will be the largest network of parcel self-service terminals in Lithuania both in terms of the number of places where self-services may be used and in terms of the number of operated parcel boxes.

Currently, 102 LP EXPRESS parcel self-service terminals have been installed in 45 cities and towns of Lithuania. Following the implementation of the planned expansion of the network, the total number of parcel self-service terminals will be 142, and they will have almost 15 thousand parcel boxes of various sizes.
