Digital Services Working Group
(previous MA E-identification + MA Digital Services)

Background

In May 2015, the Commission submitted its Digital Single Market Strategy. It denotes the strategy of the European Commission to ensure access to online activities for individuals and businesses under conditions of fair competition. The aim is to maximize the growth of the European Digital Economy and of its society, so that every European can enjoy its full benefit.

The European Commission is taking concrete actions for the development of cross-border digital services and ensures the use of digital tools and systems to provide better a modern eGovernment to citizens and businesses:

  1. defines priorities for standards and interoperability
  2. supports an inclusive digital society
  3. ensures the e-government plan based on "once only" and “digital-by-default”

Objectives

  • Collect and provide information on objectives and development of the European regulatory framework of the Digital services
  • Develop and lobby common positions on relevant digital single market initiatives, such as electronic registered delivery services, e-government working plan, free flow of non-personal data and regulation of online platforms
  • Establish a constructive dialogue with relevant stakeholders, including the Commission and the European Parliament.
