Winner of UPU Letter Competition examplary for new generations, states Turkish Post

Since 1971 Universal Postal Union (UPU) has been organising a world-wide contest for children and young people (up to the age of 15) every year.

"Write a letter to 45-year-old self" was the theme for year 2016. An International Jury selected the letter of Thi Thu Trang from Vietnam as the winner out of 1 million letters sent out from 64 countries. Nguyen's touching essay was based on a letter from 45-year-old Alan Kurdi to himself.  Alan Kurdi was a young Syrian boy whose lifeless body was found a shore in Bodrum, Turkey.

The 15-year-old Vietnamese young girl accepted her prize in the presence of 2000 delegates from 155 countries during the closing ceremony of the 26th Universal Postal Congress hosted by our country in Istanbul in 2016.

Nguyen Thi Thu Trang was invited by the Turkish Post to the International Children's Festival as part of the 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day celebrations, which were presented to the children of the world by our nation. It is considered that Nguyen's success will be an example for new generations when it comes to increasing their sensitivity towards the world affairs and expressing their ideas.
