Last Year the Volume of Lithuania Post Items Increased by a Tenth

Last year, in total 60.3m postal items were sent and received via Lithuania Post. It is by 12.5 per cent more than in 2014, when 53.5m items were sent and received.

“An increased deluge of postal items has been mostly influenced by Lithuania Post collaboration with international logistics and courier companies operating in the Chinese market, delivering postal items from China to European countries,” - Directress of Postal Operations Division of Lithuania Post Rasa  Radzevičienė said.

In recent years, because of quite rapidly growing e-commerce, the major part of postal items has been shipped to Lithuania from China. In 2015, almost a half (45 per cent) of all the international items was received from this country to Lithuania Post. After China we can align Germany, Great Britain, the USA, Holland and Poland. “Mainly, these items are purchases from foreign e-shops,” - Mrs. Radzevičienė emphasized.

Meanwhile, directions of outgoing postal items from Lithuania almost did not change in comparison with 2014. In 2015, the biggest part of items from Lithuania was shipped to Great Britain, the country containing the largest number of Lithuanian emigrants. Items sent to Great Britain made up 16 per cent of all the international items sent via Lithuania Post, 12 per cent of all the international items were sent to Germany, 11 per cent to the USA, 7 per cent to Latvia and 6 per cent to Poland.
