Romanian Post confirms the positive financial figures recorded in 2014 and in the first four months of 2015

Poşta Română National Company recorded a 18.7 million lei (4.16 million euros) net profit in the first four months of 2015, due to an increase of revenues by 3.1% against the same period of the previous year.

This development confirms the positive trend of the Romanian postal operator, amid a net profit of 22.8 million lei (5 million euros) at the end of 2014.

The financial position for the January – April 2015 period shows an increase of total revenues by 11.7 million lei against the similar period of the previous year, up to 391 million lei, but also an expenditure increase by 16.7 million lei, due to an increase of wages operated at the end of 2014. Nevertheless, keeping the expenses (371 million lei) comfortably under incomes resulted in a 19.5 million lei gross profit.

“Keeping steady the revenues from our traditional postal services is still a challenge, but entering the competition of big and strategic projects proved to be a profitable decision”, Alexandru Petrescu, CEO at Poşta Română, has said in a statement. “Thereby, while the revenues from mail services or product selling are continuing to shrink, signing contracts with operators from the money transfers' segment or for delivering the national health card brought important gains. At this stage, we wish to intensify the commercial liaisons with big names on the Romanian retail and banking market, and to boost our market share on the segment of e-commerce and insurance services”, Petrescu concluded.

Poşta Română's General Assembly of Shareholders endorsed, by the end of May, the revenue and expenditure budget for 2014, also the financial statements of the company and the net profit's destination for last year. The Romanian postal operator recorded, at 31 December 2014, a 1.12 billion lei turnover, and a 22.8 million lei net profit. After provisions, 22.6 million lei will cover some of the loss registered in the past five years.
