Two international awards recognise bpost’s environmental performance

bpost has been ranked world best in environmental management by the International Post Corporation (IPC) for the second consecutive year. bpost has also been awarded the highest score (“A”) in the Climate Performance Leadership Index for its performance in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

bpost retained first position in IPC’s annual ranking of its members’ environmental management performance in 2014. The IPC unites postal companies of Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia-Pacific. Together, these operators represent over 80% of global postal volumes.

bpost was recently also given the highest score ("A") in the Climate Performance Leadership Index for its performance in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). This worldwide index presents 187 listed companies identified as demonstrating a superior approach to climate change mitigation.

The CDP is an international NGO that evaluates the efforts of more than 4,500 companies and 200 cities in over 80 countries to combat global warming, while allowing them to measure, communicate, manage and share all information on their environmental performance.

These two international awards confirm that the initiatives taken by bpost for the past several years to reduce the impact on the environment of its activities are bearing fruits. Between 2007 and 2013 carbon emissions due to its activities fell by 31%; between 2005 and 2013 energy consumption was reduced by 17%, while waste was reduced by 12% between 2009 and 2013.
