Donald Brydon, Chairman, Royal Mail plc said: "Royal Mail has a rich history and important heritage. We are part of the fabric of life in the UK and continue to play a vital role at the heart of communities nationwide. This report provides information about how Royal Mail is committed to the maintenance and preservation of that postal heritage.
The report outlines how Royal Mail, Post Office Ltd and the BPMA continue to work together to achieve a new postal museum and the reopening of the historic Mail Rail. One of the highlights of the past year, has been our work to mark the centenary of the First World War, remembering the significant role the postal service and postal workers played in the conflict.
This has included public exhibitions telling the story of our regiment, The Post Office Rifles, developing a schools’ engagement programme, and creating an online searchable database of the 300 war memorials in our care. This work has created a lasting legacy of remembrance"
