Grosnez Castle which is situated on the far north-west of Jersey, in the parish of St Ouen. Sir John des Roches ordered the castle to be built in the 14th century, around the time of the start of the Hundred Years’ War, to provide refuge for farmers in the west of the Island during French raids. It fell into disrepair in the 16th century and the ruins are now open to the public, free of charge.
