PostEurop’s activities in the international field concentrate on the works of a few international organisations, namely the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Customs Organization (WCO). Its role is to ensure that the interests of EU and non-EU postal operators are adequately represented and taken into consideration within these international arenas.
The mission of this committee is to contribute to shaping the international regulatory postal environment according to the industry and Members’ interests. The committee strives to shape the wider European (non EU) and further worldwide environment so as to ensure that regulatory decisions favour the European context. It looks at the interests of all 49 Members, including those of the EU 27, in a wider context. The IAC is also coordinating the activities of its 5 working groups in the following fields:
- Providing the 48 Members with an influential voice.
- Identify regulatory gaps between EU and non-EU countries in order to contribute to the harmonisation of the European intra-community and extra-community postal regulation.
As a regional union recognised as a Restricted Union of the UPU, PostEurop has a special relationship with the UPU. In recent years, PostEurop has ensured that the reforms adopted at the UPU Bucharest Congress of 2004 have been properly understood and acknowledged by Members.
